How to View Twitter History
Well, then how do we see our Twitter history? The trick is to access and download the data archive.

1. Download Twitter Data Archive on Android Phone
To access and download the Twitter data archive with an Android phone, follow these steps:
- Step #1: Open the Twitter app then login to your account.
- Step #2: Once open, tap the navigation menu in the upper-left corner (now with your profile picture).
- Step #3: Select Settings and privacy.
- Step #4: Select Account.
- Step #5: Look for the Data and permissions category, then select Your Twitter data.
- Step #6: Well, there you can actually see your complete history data.
These data include: account, account history, apps, device & information, account activity, and advertising and interest data.
- Step #7: To view one of these histories, you just need to tap on one of them, enter the password, then tap Confirm.
- Step #8: If you want to download it, select Download archive.
- Step #9: Then, verify by entering the verification code sent to your email. Then, tap Next.
- Step #10: Finally, tap the Request archive.
After that, you just have to wait for Twitter to prepare your data archive until it’s ready to be downloaded.
Usually, you will receive a notification via email when your history is ready to download.
Maybe, Twitter takes 1 day or more. So, you can wait and check regularly.
Maybe once a day, you can also check it by doing the steps above.
Go to Settings and privacy – Account – Your Twitter data – Download archive. If it is ready to be downloaded, then the button will change to Download archive as shown below:
The file that you download is usually in the form of a .zip file. After you download, don’t just give the data to other people, okay?
2. Download Twitter Data Archive on Laptop/PC
If you want to view Twitter history by downloading your data archive on a laptop or PC, then the method is as follows:
- Step #1: Open Twitter.com on your laptop or PC browser.
- Step #2: Click More in the navigation menu, then select Settings and privacy.
- Step #3: On the Account menu, click Download your archived data.
- Step #4: Enter the password, then click Next.
- Step #5: After that, verify the security by entering the verification code sent to your email.
Just click Send code.
- Step #6: Open your email in a new tab, then open the email post from Twitter.
- Step #7: Copy the verification code in the form of 6 numeric characters, then paste it in the Enter verification code column on Twitter earlier. Then, click Next.
- Step #8: Finally, just click the Request archive.
Next, you have to wait 1 day or more for Twitter to prepare your data archive until it’s ready to download.
If your history is ready to be downloaded, then usually Twitter will send a notification via email.
You can check it regularly. Maybe once a day, you can repeat these steps on your laptop/PC.
Go to Settings and privacy, then select Download your archive of data. If your history is ready to be downloaded, the button will change to Download archive as shown in the following image:
Your history file is usually a .zip file. If it’s been downloaded, don’t give it to just anyone, okay!
3. Download Twitter Data Archive on iPhone
If you use an iPhone to access and download the Twitter data archive, then the method is not much different from an Android phone.
You can follow these steps:
- Step #1: Open the Twitter app on your iPhone.
- Step #2: Tap your profile photo in the top-left corner.
- Step #3: Select Settings and privacy.
- Step #4: Select Account.
- Step #5: Look for the Data and permissions category, then select Your Twitter data.
- Step #6: Select Download archive.
- Step #7: Enter the password, then the Next step.
- Step #8: Next, verify Twitter security.
Just tap Send code. then, open your email and search for posts from Twitter.
Copy the code sent by Twitter, then paste it in the verification code column on your Twitter earlier.
Then, tap Verify.
- Step #9: Next, tap the Request archive.
Well, after that, you need to wait 1 day or more for Twitter to prepare your history file until it’s ready to be downloaded.
Once ready, Twitter will send a notification to your email.
Or if not, you can check it periodically by repeating the steps above.
Go to Settings and privacy – Account – Your Twitter data – Download archive. If it is ready to download, the button will change to Download archive.
The file that you download later is usually in the form of a .zip. If it’s been downloaded, don’t let your data leak to the wrong people, OK!
